Welcome

ovalbeigeThe Order of Saint Luke is dedicated to sacramental and liturgical scholarship, education, and practice.

As a religious order, we are a dispersed community of women and men, lay and clergy, from many different denominations, seeking to live the sacramental life.

The Order is Wesleyan and Lukan in its spirituality, Methodist in its origins, sacramental in its practice, and ecumenical in its outlook.

Please note: The Order of Saint Luke is not affiliated with The International Order of St. Luke the Physician.

Abbot's Welcome

For you who are visiting to discover more about who we are and what we do, try clicking the links above under "Who We Are." In short, we're a dispersed ecumenical religious order related to the United Methodist Church, though many of our sisters and brothers are Lutheran, Episcopalian, Baptist, and other traditions. Our focus is on sacramental and liturgical scholarship and practice. We're an international order, though right now the majority of the Order reside in the United States. We've been around for over sixty years, and we're growing.

The Font Archives Available

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of several members of the Order, an online archive of The Font, our private in-house newletter, is now available to members on this web site. Sr. Sue Moore, editor of The Font, was the driving force behind ensuring issues were made available to the membership. Br. Gregory Hayes (among others) discovered problems with file formatting, and passed these issues along to Br. Rog Baker, who reformetted and uploaded the documents.

Complete issues from January 2005 forward are avilable, as are a few issues from 2004 & 2003. Any member possesing any issues not yet posted in electronic form are encouraged to pass them along to our webscribe, Br. Rog, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
